EU Directive 2020/2184 establishing water-quality standards for potable supply across the EU. Includes requirements for materials in contact with drinking water.

The **EU Drinking Water Directive (DWD)** is Directive 2020/2184, the EU framework for drinking
water quality. It establishes parametric values for chemical and microbiological quality and sets
requirements for materials in contact with potable water. Floating covers used on potable
reservoirs must use materials approved for drinking-water contact; the NSF-61 certified HDPE
variant of the hexagonal cover satisfies these requirements.
