# Methane capture

Active recovery of methane gas from anaerobic digesters, lagoons, or landfill, typically requiring continuous (geomembrane) covers and gas-handling infrastructure.

**Methane capture** is the active recovery of biogenic methane from anaerobic digesters, covered
lagoons, or landfill — for energy use (combined heat and power) or upgrading to biomethane. Methane
capture requires continuous (geomembrane) covers with gas-handling equipment, distinct from
modular hexagonal covers which reduce methane release substantially without capture. Hybrid
deployments — continuous on the digester core, modular on adjacent storage — are common.
